WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?

"Who do you say I am" said Jesus to his disciples
"Who do you say I am",
He doesn't stop to question me
Or, don't I stop to question myself: "Who is He?"
Why Him? Why Jesus?

Jesus..
Some say you are a prophet
Some say you are a puppet
Some say a great man
Some say The great God
Son of Man
Son of God
The corner stone
The biggest hoax in history
A peasant
A marginal jew
A Qumranic teacher
A Jewish Rabbi
A "Pauline" invention
A divine intervention
A re-incarnation of the Buddah
A replacement of Zeus
A Failure
Revolutionary
Coward
Zealot
Reformer
Rebel
Fiction!
Truth!
Dead!
Living!

To the Jews you were the "Messiah", the Hope
Though they missed You
To the Greeks you were the "Logos", the Word
And they philosophized You
To the poor of Yahweh you were "Emmanuel": God came near
To Paul you were the "All in the All", the ultimate goal of the creation
To the nascent church you were the head of the body, the groom of the bride
To the Gnostics you were the eternal wisdom
To the moderns you are “the Alpha and the Omega”,

But the Messiah became “Christus”… one more name
While …the Word became flesh
The flesh became bread
The bread became body
The body became church

And Here I am
Blind enough
Unable to know who You are
Or who I say You are
Yet…
To me you are a mystery
You are my daily bread
You are my flesh and blood
Without You I can’t live. Can I?
I don’t know
Yet I don’t know
What is life after all…
I don’t know
